The Clergy and Staff of Trinity Church

The Trinity office is located at the church. Use the office entrance off of the circular drive. Parish office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 12:30. The office will be closed each day between 12:30 and 1:30 for lunch hour. You can contact the office secretary at nancy@trinityswarthmore.org.

The Rev Tom Cook, RectorTrinity Church Fr. Cook describes his style of worship as “broad and flexible.” He likes to sing Eucharistic prayers, but he also will occasionally use the guitar with the children. He likes traditional music and also uses the Lift Every Voice and Sing hymnal. He likes to tie his sermons to everyday occurrences and uses scripture as a basis for preaching, using stories and anecdotes. Fr. Cook enjoys making pastoral visits and likes to make time to visit with the community.

The Rev Joyce Tompkins, Associate

The Rev Joyce U. Tompkins, Associate PriestJoyce Tompkins grew up in northern New Jersey where she spent most of her time in the woods. She received a B.A. in Classics from Cornell and the M.Div. from The General Theological Seminary in New York. She has served parishes in New Jersey, Chicago, Wisconsin and Massachusetts, before coming to Swarthmore in 2001. She has also worked in higher education as a counselor at Marquette University.

Joyce also now serves as the Protestant Chaplain at Swarthmore College, where she works with students of many faith backgrounds. She is passionate about walking with young people on the spiritual path, and about bringing people of different faiths together to find common ground. In her work at both the College and the parish, she finds ways to include community outreach as a focus of her ministries.

When not at the church or on campus, Joyce can often be found in the Crum Woods, where she runs daily with her dog, Pepper. She enjoys reading and writing poetry and fiction.

Joyce is married to Doug, who is also an Episcopal priest. They have three sons and live in Swarthmore with their dog and two cats.

Nancy Holstein, SecretaryNancy Holstein has been the parish secretary at Trinity Church since 1990.

Nancy says, "Our new office is wonderful; and now I have a window. I hope you will stop by to see the wonderful job they have done."

"I have been married to my husband Ken for 42 years and we live in Springfield. We have been at our current residence for 36 years. We have been members of Kedron United Methodist Church in Morton for over 50 years. Ken is retired from PECO and does a lot of running around for the family. He is also very involved with the Morton Fire Company."

"I have three married children and I have 8 grandchildren. All are close by so we get to visit often."

Bill Mullen, Accountant

Bill Mullen has lived in Delaware County his entire life. Bill has a degree in Accounting from Widener.

Bill does accounting and bookkeeping for St. Alban’s in Newtown Square, and recently started for St. Luke’s in Broomall. In addition, he is part-time Controller for a merchandise company.

Bill has 2 sons and 2 grand-daughters. He recently got married to his new wife Roxanne.
